Waitress

A hotel waitress job is not much different than that of a waitress at a restaurant. The functions are similar, serving food and drinks to guests. However, detailed job descriptions may vary depending on the place of work.
Many hotels do not necessarily require previous experience, as some establishments prefer to train their own staff, according to their standards. However, some high-end hotels may require experience in working table sections, complex table settings and serving wine. This also means that waitresses need to be over the age of 18 to be able to serve alcoholic beverages.
Unlike restaurant waitresses, persons working in this role in a hotel tend to have higher salaries, as the income from tips is more limited. Hotels discourage such staff from seeking tips from guests, but rather require them to provide high-level service at all times. Hotels will provide training, especially if the position holder is required to use POS (point of sales) systems.
Persons in this role can earn between C
$18,000 and C
$36,000 depending on the hotel. This income can be supplemented with tips, but unlike staff in restaurants, hotel staff tend to pool tips and share them among each other.
