Scientist

A career as a scientist requires not only knowledge of specific science but also the ability to conduct experiments and analyse and interpret the results, recording them accurately. Computer literacy is often an essential part of this role. Scientists are sometimes involved in securing funding in order to carry out research, so good presentation skills are a benefit.
Others skills include having the ability to work to deadlines and work well as part of a team. In some positions, having the ability to lead and supervise a team may be required.
A Bachelors degree in a scientific field is essential, although it does not necessarily have to be in the field of work for which a candidate is applying. A Masters degree or PHD marks the most attractive applicants out. Having experience and a proven track record in conducting experiments and research is also essential for those applying for positions in the field of science. The average salary ranges from C
$40,000 to C
$90,000, depending upon the position and the knowledge and experience required.
