Physics

Potential physicists must not only excel in science and math, but must also be motivated and curious about the world in which we live. Good oral and written communication and problem solving skills are also essential.
Physicists use their expertise to determine how matter behaves, how energy forms change, and how particles combine to create liquids, gases and solid matter. Some physicists conduct experiments to develop solutions to certain practical problems, while others work on a much more theoretical basis.
Several physics jobs are in the development and research fields, but astronomy, the study of planets, stars, and other celestial bodies, is also considered part of this science branch. Most physicist positions require doctoral degrees, but those with Bachelors degrees may obtain entry-level technician or research assistant positions.
Masters degrees are usually required for teaching, manufacturing, and research jobs. Average salaries in this branch of science range between around C
$30,000 and C
$109,000.
