Parking Enforcement

A career in parking enforcement requires excellent interpersonal skills, as officers are often dealing with irate members of the public. They must also have an excellent working knowledge of traffic by laws and a good level of physical ability, as this job is most commonly carried out on foot.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required, as well as being able to keep records and write reports. The ability to work as part of a team, as well as individually, is another key skill. It is also important to be able to problem solve while being firm about decisions.
There are no specific qualifications required in order to work in parking enforcement, although a high school diploma is essential. It is often required that applicants have a clean driving license and a good driving history. In-house training is usually provided and there are opportunities to take further qualifications. The average salary for this role ranges from C
$20,000 to C
$40,000, depending on whether officers work out on the street or in managerial roles.
