In addition to the basic task of attending to the collection and cleaning of dining and kitchen implements, dishes, flatware and glassware, the dishwasher is frequently tasked with generally helping to maintain cleanliness and order in the kitchen. The role will typically involve cleaning and sanitizing kitchen surfaces, storage areas, shelves and cupboards.
The work will require safe and efficient handling and storage of cleaning products, mopping and sweeping, operating cleaning equipment such as dishwashers and pot-washing machines, cleaning and polishing silverware, and cleaning food preparation and processing equipment. Work often involves assisting staff with cleaning and preparation of basic food items, and helping to collect and dispose of refuse.
Though many positions require only basic skills and language abilities, candidates will find that demonstrable experience, plus some relevant qualifications to be strong assets.
