The role of a custodian or janitor is to work with minimal supervision, being proactive to keep the premises clean, tidy and safe of any spills or broken equipment which could be potentially dangerous. Experience is not necessarily required as many firms offer training for the right candidate, although some experience is seen as an asset.
Duties include cleaning, sweeping, mopping and waxing floors as well as disinfecting washrooms, basins and fixtures.
