Labourer
Labourers are required to perform various duties at construction sites, such as transporting raw materials. Other duties include operating fork lifts and loading materials on to trucks. They are required to help with repair jobs and to clean work areas. They are responsible for sorting and stacking material as well as maintaining a safe work environment.
Salaries are usually paid by the hour and it is possible to earn C
$16.00 per hour. Candidates may be required to have forklift certification and previous experience. They should be able to perform strenuous physical activities and lift up to 50lbs.
Applicants should have good communication skills and be able to follow instructions. They should be flexible to work different hours and be available for continental shifts. Many labourers learn their job through working on site and a high school certification is often all that is required. It is beneficial if applicants have previous experience in construction, such as pipe fitting and welding. They should be prepared to work in adverse weather conditions.
