Educational Consultant

A high level of dedication and responsibility is required for an educational consultant. People in this role keep the gears of the public education system running smoothly, working as both program developers and administrators. There are plenty of jobs in this field in the government as well as in the private sector.
Most educational consultants work for their government developing, implementing and managing specific education programs. Often they work with the public school system, improving their curriculum, training employees and running consumer education campaigns.
The position requires excellent leadership skills and a true passion for improving the public education system. To a lesser degree there are jobs in the private sector with non-governmental organizations, private schools and major corporations. In either sector, it is crucial that consultants have the ability to conduct extensive research, make evaluations and make difficult decisions.
Since most work is with the government, a bachelor’s degree in education is the minimal requirement. Most people working in this field, however, have graduate degrees in education or specific fields of study. Jobs in cities pay significantly more than rural positions. The average starting salary is around C
$47,000 per year.
