Direct Sales

An individual working in direct sales must have the confidence and ability to attempt to sell a product directly to a customer. A direct salesperson will generally work in a face-to-face setting, such as at demonstrations or by going door-to-door.
The salesman may work selling or company’s product but in many cases the individual will purchase it themselves and then attempt to sell it to a third party.
To be suitable for the position, it is important to be able to work independently, be out-going and energetic, be able to manage time well, and to enjoy working in a challenging environment. Self-motivation is essential as income is usually determined by amount of sales secured rather than the number of hours worked.
To work in direct sales, no qualifications are required; however, a college diploma or business degree majoring in sales or marketing can have obvious benefits. The amount of hours worked is usually decided by the individual in the position and income is determined by quality of performance as there is no base salary.
