Construction Superintendent
A construction superintendent coordinates and oversees the activities of the workers on a building site in order to meet deadlines and comply with safety regulations. Educational requirements are the completion of a high school certificate and further training such as CEGEP training. Credentials such as a Construction Trades certificate and a first aid qualification may be required. Applicants should have a valid driver’s license.
No experience is necessary but it is beneficial to have worked in this position before when applying for a job. Candidates should be able to speak, read and write at a high level of proficiency. Duties include planning, organizing and monitoring progress.
Construction superintendents are responsible for establishing policies and ensuring that they are implemented effectively. They will need to choose subcontractors and organize operations as well as hire other staff. Other duties include managing building materials and budgets, and analyzing data.
Applicants should be able to work under pressure and be capable of paying attention to detail. Salaries depend on qualifications and experience, and remuneration often includes medical benefits and insurance. Salaries for this job are in the range of C
$80,000.
