The backbone of the manufacturing industry, an assembler is part of a team of workers responsible for constructing the constituent parts of a final product. Keen attention to detail is essential for the role as is manual dexterity and often a reasonable level of stamina. Assemblers must be able to work well with other people, be able to troubleshoot and solve any problems that arise and look after any equipment or machinery they might be required to use.
The work can be extremely varied and span a number of manufacturing industries. Some companies may require certification and there may be in-house examinations for physical and visual ability. Other duties may include producing reports and keeping databases up to date. Assemblers may also have to test components and produce reviews on how to better streamline operations.
