Art

Art occupations can be divided into two sections, fine and applied. Although the exact nature and visual value of what an artist produces might be the subject of heated debate, artists essentially create art. A fine artist will generally create paintings, sculptures, or prints while an applied artist, who works with ceramics, furniture, pottery, and similar products, is responsible for designing items that serve a more practical purpose.
Sculptors, painters, and printmakers are considered fine artists and work with various materials if they don’t have to specialize in working with just one. The material an artist uses is known as a medium and a painter might work with the medium of water colours, oils, or pastels while a sculptor carves stone or wood and possibly even metal or plastic.
Fine artists may attempt to earn their living through selling their work; however, few are able to effectively support themselves in such a manner. As a result, many supplement their income by teaching in schools, colleges, or universities. In a similar fashion, sculptors might use their skills to seek regular employment in designing furniture. Due to the nature of the work, median salaries are difficult to narrow down.
