Training

Any workforce is well-served by an organisation which carefully assesses and carries out their training needs. To do this in the most efficient manner, many companies employ their own training and development manager. This is a specialist who can co-ordinate a number of departments in the planning and delivery of a dedicated programme.
The manager’s main duties include analysing jobs by appraisal of the employees, as well as consultations with management and HR. As such, first-class communication skills are of paramount importance. From this information, managers can then plan courses, develop materials and ensure that the programmes are delivered according to plan.
Qualifications in adult education are a good start for anyone who would like to get into the training field. In addition, work experience in the relevant industry is a huge advantage. In fact, many instructors move into the role after working another position within the same company.
On average, training instructors should earn at least C
$40,000, with the very best positions even offering over C
$90,000. The highest salaries in this field tend to be located in Toronto, in the telecommunications industry.
