Essential to the IT industry is the telecom specialist, who designs voice and data communication systems to fit their clients’ requirements and needs. This person supervises the installment of these machines and helps clients to maintain the system afterwards. They are expected to solve technical problems and also to anticipate them in advance.
A telecommunications specialist manages the processing and auditing of a firm’s telecommunications invoices. This position requires the monitoring of wireless devices, interaction with vendors (including offering technical advice and negotiations), and performance of tower structural analysis for positioning antennae.
The specialist must be knowledgeable about the telecommunications field, be a team player who possesses strong leadership skills, and demonstrate diplomacy towards other departments and workers. The role requires the ability to work calmly under pressure and to perform urgent troubleshooting when required.
A telecom specialist should hold at least a bachelor’s degree in telecommunications or electrical engineering. The average salary in Canada for this role is C
$46,126 to C
$62,090, with a consulting pay rate of C
$25 to C
$30 per hour.
