Quality Technician

A quality technician’s analytical talents and dedication to ensuring all plant diagnostic tools are operable are essential to the success of manufactured products. Job holders are valued for their attention to detail and ability to quickly locate and resolve product issues.
Successful quality technician applicants assume overall responsibility for calibrating gauges and other product quality monitoring devices correctly. Individuals are required to analyse collected data and diagnose potential problems. In the event of problems, the incumbent is usually expected to be able to adjust machinery and measuring devices or take other relevant action.
People taking on new roles in this field do not need formal school qualifications, but previous experience and possibly a vocational diploma in mechanics or engineering will open a few doors. Proficiency with computer hardware and software and Microsoft Windows applications, as well as numerical, problem solving and organisational skills, are mandatory requirements.
There are vacancies in this field in most major Canadian cities. Salaries range from C
$35,000 to a maximum of C
$60,000 and depend on experience and job location. Candidates may be required to work shifts and also work at the weekend.
