Qualified Social Worker
A qualified social worker is an invaluable cog in the machinations of modern society. A professional in this altruistic field is prized for their expert assistance and counselling as well as their knack of improving the lot of underprivileged children and adults.
Successful applicants are expected to be able to go to the homes of families and children with problems and assess their needs. Job holders need to build up trust, offer counselling and possibly instigate legal proceedings. The job requires the holder to have an aptitude for organisation as meticulous notes must be kept and reports made to concerned parties and officials.
The post requires individuals to have patience and to be friendly along with superb communicative skills. Candidates for senior positions should have completed a GSCC approved social work degree or have a related postgraduate degree.
Local authorities, care homes and private foundations around the country actively recruit experienced staff. Most positions are office based, with extensive off-site visits to homes, residential centres and hospitals. A qualified social worker securing a new post will be offered a salary ranging from £26,000 to a maximum of £40,000 per annum.
