Purchasing

Employment in the purchasing sector can include analysing, managing or assisting positions. Purchasing managers require planning, organisational and developmental skills. Candidates need good interpersonal skills to work with a team and supervise staff members to ensure maximum efficiency. Applicants should have good attention to detail and be able to cope with a large amount of work.
The responsibilities for this job position include the evaluation of projects and the cost of goods. Other duties include preparing reports and liaising with senior management, as well as assigning, co-coordinating and overseeing projects. The job entails dealing with claims against suppliers and processing the necessary paperwork.
The work environment is fast paced and requires the ability to work under pressure in order to meet tight deadlines. There are educational requirements for this job position; applicants should have completed a college degree and/or vocational training.
Credentials such as a certified Professional Purchaser accreditation are beneficial. Some companies require experience in the industry; however, the minimum requirement of experience differs between companies. An average salary for a purchasing manager is C
$50, 000 per year.
