Programmer
A programmer’s role is to create software applications for various uses. The role could be within a software production company that specializes in creating computer, web or mobile applications, or it could be within a large company which needs a software developer to create programs for internal use.
Programmers are generally experienced in a specific field of programming, such as a web developer or a software developer. Others specialize in programming scripts such as Perl, PHP, Java and Visual Basic.
This role involves a number of vital skills that candidates must possess. Time management is vital as strict deadlines must be met when working on a number of projects. Persons in this job may find themselves working on multiple projects at one time, and therefore being able to prioritize important tasks is a key requirement of the position.
The qualifications required for most programming positions in Canada are generally a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, as well as certified training with the particular programming script. Programmers earn a starting salary of around C
$40,000.
