Production Supervisor
The production supervisor is in charge of the manufacturing production team, and must therefore possess excellent leadership qualities and communication skills. They are responsible for making sure that production runs to schedule, quality standards are maintained and that other employees adhere to the relevant health and safety requirements.
Supervisors should have good numerical skills, as they are often in charge of budgets, and a good level of computer proficiency is often required. As they will often have to communicate with other professionals within an organisation, a reasonable level of written and verbal skills is useful.
Being able to problem solve and troubleshoot is essential, as is the ability to come up with ways of improving the overall production process. A production supervisor will often graduate from the production line. However, a certificate in engineering or a related subject, as well as experience, will be attractive to potential employers. Supervisor salaries average at around C
$50,000 per year.
