Procurement

Work in procurement ranges from officer to manager, lawyer or department head. Adept administrators or officers will be prized for their ability to help ensure a company, department or project can maintain procurement activities that meet specifications, follow established procedures and are documented as required
Administrators may be more actively involved in the day-to-day processing of procurement, while officers frequently are tasked more with managing and overseeing procurement projects. The exact nature of these roles will vary between assignments and there is much overlap. The manager will generally work closely with colleagues and superiors to ensure industry, corporate and supply-chain mandates, strategies and processes are adhered to or optimised where necessary
Some roles will require specialised technical industry knowledge. Others may involve the manager having to develop or establish strategy. Reporting skill, ability to work to KPIs, communication skill, relationship management and dedication to constant improvement will be highly-prized by most employers
Some roles will offer employment on hourly rates ranging between £20 and £35, leading to permanent positions. Salaries for officers and administrators range from £14,000 to £28,000. Managers see median salaries of £50,000 and senior positions can offer £100,000 plus benefits.
