Police

A career in the police requires excellent interpersonal skills as well as verbal and written communication skills and a confident and authoritative attitude. Having the ability to deal decisively and appropriately to challenging and potentially dangerous situations is also essential. The ability to follow strict guidelines and procedures is required, as well as a working knowledge of law specific to their role within the police.
Other skills required for working within the police include having a good working knowledge of computer systems and software applications. Those working in the police must be in excellent physical shape, as roles often require a high level of activity. Another important skill is being able to work as part of a team. Reasonable written and verbal communication skills are essential.

No particular qualifications are required to apply to work for the police, although applicants must have successfully complete high school. Applicants will have to pass a physical fitness test before going on to a program of formal training. The average salary for jobs in the police ranges from C
$30,000 to over C£90,000, depending upon experience.
