If you could choose a dream job whether it be in your current field or something else what would it be?

    • My ideal job is one that pays extremely well and has great dental/medical/etc insurance and benefits... A boss that is honest, respectful and doesn't expect me to accept the salary of 1 job if I'm doing the job of 2 or 3 people (example: administrative assistant who's required also be a receptionist and do the accounts payables/receivables - Those are 3 separate positions and therefore should be either done by 3 different people or, if they only want one person doing it, should be compensated accordingly with the salary given to 3 people). Nowadays employers has unrealistic expectations (ex: they all think employees should be "thankful" for being employed by that company and employers forget that the employee is offering a service... which does not come with the right to disrespect, mistreat, ridicule the employee and it doesn't give them the right to give the employee crumbs for a salary - this shows a lack of respect), expecting employees to bow down to all their ridiculous demands, and if the employee doesn't acquiesce, he/she risks to be fired... Employers also expect employees to do the job of several people whilst being paid a crummy salary. They also expect them to put up with a bad work environment where management and/or other senior non-management employees behave as if they were still in high school. Most employers don't protect their front line employees and see them as expendable. They forget that front line employees are the foundation on which their company stands on... Treat your employees badly and your company will go down the drain because the word on the streets will be that your company is one of the worst places to work at...
I've had a lot of head-hunters calling me for jobs that I refused due to the fact that the companies had a bad reputation (disrespectful toward employees, management not taking responsibility for their own mistakes and/or accepting the praises for an idea that wasn't theirs (rather the idea of a subordinate), not paying their employees in time, playing mind games with the employees and/or psychologically/mentally/emotionally bullying their employees or letting some employees do the bullying without management doing a thing to rectify the situation [HR dept were a joke or was nonexistent], employer expects/demands employees to do things out of the scope of their position [if they're hired do a job, don't expect/demand that they do things that are not included in the job description - writing in a job ad that other duties might be added on to their job description is a sure sign that the employer is not a good one and is instead a cheap one], the list goes on and on)...
So, my dream job would be one that the wages/insurances/benefits are really good, there's respect between employer/employees and between employees themselves (good work environment), that there's also a good work/life balance, permanency, that skills and proficiency is valued above diplomas (I've seen too many people with diplomas who didn't know how to do their jobs), that there's room for advancement within the company and that the good work doesn't go unnoticed nor acknowledged, that the employer realizes that not everybody is money driven (some company give bonuses if the employees does this or that) because some people are driven by the satisfaction of a job well done (I've actually declined a job when I realized during the interview that the boss didn't believe that I don't care about bonuses and that what's most important for me is to, precisely, do a good job - when I do a good job, the company strives and that's a reward in itself), that there's no preferential treatment toward those who suck up to the boss and/or management, and finally, that the employers don't pile up work on the employee to the point that the employee has a burn-out (which I've seen way too many times and the sad thing is that the employer actually doesn't care about its employees and sees them as a number easily replaceable)...
I've noticed over the last few years is that less and less people are willing to work for employers that don't care about their employees. And know that when you lie on that job ad you post on job board, eventually the people will see that it was all a lie just to lure them in and they'll find another company to work for. More and more people are doing their own research on the companies they think of applying for a job at. People are speaking up to help others avoid the pitfalls of having to work for bad employers/companies. I'm one of those people who researches and let me tell you that there's not a lot of good employers/companies out there! It saddens me to say that... the thing is, it's the truth! Employers/Companies have A LOT of work to do in order to be the type of company that people will actually WANT/DESIRE to work for... or rather, work with!
Tomorrow is a new day and it's never too late for improvement...
