Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy exists to enhance people’s lives. This is not just in the work place, but in other aspects including at home, at leisure and in the community. An occupational therapist’s aim is to help clients find better ways to live their lives and to better deal with any problems they may be faced with.
The theory is to gather information and identify the areas in a person’s life which may be causing problems. A therapist will then use this information to set their client goals and then work with that client to figure out the best plan of action to achieve those goals. The results are then analyzed, the action is revised and the end result is hopefully that the client will have discovered a more fulfilling way in which to live their life.
The profession allows therapists to work in areas which are physical and mental. They can also choose to work with individuals, families and even entire communities. In Canada, the average wage is around C
$60,000 per year.
