A marketing analyst must have a good grasp of figures and an understanding of the social-economic environment. They work closely with the marketing department of an organisation to provide information regarding their target market’s demographics, consumer opinions and industry climate, in order to help them to make the best decisions regarding the branding and promotion of their products and services.
A marketing analyst is expected to perform a number of key responsibilities, including studying a specific industry and providing detailed feed back to market research managers regarding key competitors, and identifying strengths and weaknesses of competitors. They will also typically be responsible for the design and administration of questionnaires, and analysing the incoming data and presenting it in the form of graphs and charts.
The job holder is expected to have excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, as they will write reports for marketing executives on a regular basis. They should be competent in graph-making and statistics. Excellent verbal communications are also vital where the job holder is required to present their findings to a board.
