Logistics Manager

A logistics manager must successfully handle all operations involved in a supply chain with the ultimate goal of achieving customer satisfaction. This individual is expected to liaise with a variety of parties, such as raw material suppliers, manufacturers, retailers, and consumers. This person must demonstrate an acute awareness of external factors, including new legislation, environmental pressures, and fuel costs.
This role usually involves coordinating transport, warehousing, stock control, and ensuring that structures exist to accurately monitor the flow of products and materials. This person should have a strong background in IT in order to forecast complex systems of stock quantities, transport costs, delivery times, and performance evaluation. This person may also allocate and manage staff resources according to changing requirements, while interacting and negotiating with suppliers and customers.
It is essential that the candidate demonstrate superior interpersonal skills, including communication, leadership, and conflict-management. Employers prefer applicants who hold a BA or MA in business management, logistics, or information technology. This position typically pays between C
$40,350 and C
$85,050 per year.
