Librarian

A librarian can seek employment in public libraries, schools and universities. Organisational skills are essential in this job position in order to keep abreast of the daily duties. A librarian needs public relation skills to implement promotional programmes, as well as reading and numeracy, decision making and problem solving skills.
Candidates for this job require vast knowledge on current and past publications as well as computer programmes such as Microsoft Suite. Applicants should pay attention to detail and be proficient in reading, writing and researching.
Librarian duties include offering reading advice and assistance to customers. Responsibilities include budget preparation and monitoring costs. This job position also involves recruiting, training and supervising employees. Librarians are responsible for purchasing new material for the library and adding it to the computer system. Materials then need to be cataloged so that they are easily accessible to patrons.
Applicants need a high school certificate and a college degree or vocational training. Salaries are in the range of C
$14 to C
$16 per hour.
