Instructors give pointers and advice to their clients on their field of expertise. For example, a fitness instructor will have knowledge of the latest fitness techniques to improve a person's fitness and body shape. The job holder will need to prove to their clients that they are qualified enough to instruct them. Sometimes this can be done through qualifications. For example, a fitness instructor may be a graduate of the CFES Specialized Fitness Leadership Program, which will assure their clients of their credentials.
The duties of instructors differ slightly to those of a teacher. While there will be a degree of teaching and explanation involved, the job holder mainly demonstrates what they want pupils to do. Pupils will then follow the demonstration and mimic the instructor’s actions. This applies to all kinds of instruction, from physical instruction to classroom based instruction in computers.
People working in this field need to be thoroughly prepared and have a calm and helpful attitude. The salary is dependent upon the field of expertise but on average earnings of around C
$28 per hour can be expected.
