Financial Planner

Individuals and companies alike turn to those working as a financial planner in order to make smart decisions regarding savings, investments and budgets. These skilled professionals provide insight to clients by compiling and analyzing available data. They help these entities make both short-term and long-term plans whilst considering a number of factors including market conditions, taxes and each client’s unique financial standing.
Those working in this post may be employed by a financial firm or a similar organization, though many operate personal enterprises and thus are self-employed. The outlook for candidates is promising, though competition for posts in highly regarded financial firms can be intense.
To be a financial planner in Canada, a person should have at least a bachelor’s in finance, accounting or economics and should obtain a mutual fund license from the CSC (Canadian Securities Course) as well as a life insurance agent's license (provincial) via the Life License Qualification Program (LLQP). Earning potential for this position can exceed C
$70,000 a year, though generally starts at around C
$35,000.
