Overseeing all of these people is the finance director, who as a senior official has a good deal of control over a company’s financial resources, future planning and the financial department in general.
The most significant day-to-day duties for those working in this position include preparing reports regarding the current financial situation of the organization as well as forecasting and creating strategies for future growth of the company.
A finance director is typically required to possess significant experience (five to ten years in many cases) in a managerial role, often at the senior level. Some firms require the person to be a chartered accountant and candidates should have at least a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, administration or a related field.
