Field Service Technician
Field service technicians provide technical assistance to companies or individuals using complex equipment, ranging from electrical equipment to heavy machinery. Depending on the industry, the technician will require varying qualifications, but in most instances, a high school diploma is the minimum certification.
Additional vocational training and a journeyman electrician paper improves the candidate's chances of employment. Depending on the role, most employers will require a certain amount of experience in a seldom field, with training on specific equipment, such as laboratory equipment or a forklift truck.
In most cases, a field service technician’s day-to-day tasks will surround the installation, testing and maintenance of a particular machine or piece of equipment. The ability to troubleshoot is a must. If working with customers most of the time, the position holder will need to be a personable individual, and to travel from site to site requires a clean driving license. Writing skills to log reports of specific machine failures need to be of a satisfactory standard.
Depending on the role, the industry, and the experience and qualifications of a field service technician, they can expect to make a starting salary of C
$40,000, and more technically advanced roles can earn as much as C
$75,000.
