Esl
The focus of an Esl job is to enhance the student's ability to speak, read, listen and write in English. Students from all parts of the world choose to study English, and so it is vital the teacher is culturally sensitive and approachable should the student have any difficulties living away from their homeland. The teacher will need a bachelor’s degree and a TESL qualification to be certified for the job.
Duties include planning and conducting lessons, with a clear focus on interactive activities within the classroom in order for the student to learn by doing. Lessons should be planned according to the level of the students’ English. The students’ progress should be monitored and recorded.
The candidate should be affable and a good communicator. They must follow the school's code of conduct if any problems arise in the classroom. They will need a detailed knowledge of English grammar and a vast lexicon to pass on to their students.
Most Esl jobs are found in language schools, although universities employ experienced TESL teachers who have previously taught IELTS. The salary depends on experience and the reputation of the school and can range between C
$30,000 and C
$70,000.
