Energy

The increasingly difficult challenge of conserving the earth’s natural energy resources, such as gas, oil and minerals, is handled by a number of specialist professionals, including engineers, analysts and managers.
Engineers focus on finding efficient and innovative methods of supplying energy with a view to minimising any environmental damage. Performing a similar function to engineers are analysts, who conduct extensive research into energy conservation and present their findings to clients. Project managers, on the other hand, manage environmental studies and are responsible for securing permits, writing reports and business development.
At the heart of this work is a desire to draw upon acquired knowledge and technical skills in order make a difference to the environment. Candidates must therefore be forward-thinking and positive in their approach and possess good analytical and communication skills.
Experts in this field usually have degrees in a related subject, such as environmental studies or engineering, and several years’ experience. Top salaries are between C
$80,000 and C
$90,000.
