Diesel Mechanic
A diesel mechanic is a specially trained individual with good manual and analytical skills. The diesel mechanic will be responsible for repairing and improving engines and ensuring they are in line with present safety precautions.
The job holder will often need to update their skills and knowledge in-line with the most recent and ever-changing technology and safety guidelines within the industry.
A candidate for this position will need to possess an analytical mind and the ability to problem solve. They will need to be relatively fit and healthy, as the job can sometimes be physically demanding. The candidate should have prior knowledge of mechanical tools and how engines work and a keen interest in the trade.
Most candidates will have undergone prior mechanical vocational training, although there is often still scope for keen individuals who have mastered the trade through unofficial routes. To work with larger vehicles, candidates will often need to take special courses.
The average salary for this position ranges between C
$24,000 and C
$66,000.
