Cruise

Work in the leisure and tourism industry on a cruise ship involves many different skills, with most of the jobs offered involving high levels of customer service. The huge choice of positions varies from entertainers, food preparation staff, including chefs, food service staff, to pursers, cleaners, fitness and leisure staff, vacation and event planners, tour guides, office and IT staff, and the maintenance and engineering staff necessary to keep the boat afloat. Plus, of course, the captain, first officer and other specialist crew members.
Many job-seekers choose this sector for its travel opportunities, although on-board positions may be seasonal. Home port offices of cruise lines offer a wide range of admin jobs, including accountancy and IT-based positions as well as PR, advertising and design jobs.
Great communications skills, the ability to work under pressure and a positive attitude are all essential in this field. Salaries vary enormously, based on the job itself, its qualification requirements and its responsibilities, but will include accommodation and food if based on board.
