Climate Change

Canada’s continuing commitment to addressing the global issue of climate change has created the need for a number of specialist jobs. Those working in the field of climate change must be passionate about the environment and have a strong interest in finding ways to limit any environmental damage caused.
This area of work requires a number of engineers to join various wind and solar projects. Engineers must hold a degree in their subject and normally have around two to three years’ relevant experience. Salaries are generally between C
$41,000 and C
$67,000, or C
$85,000 and C
$110,000 for management positions.
Jobs also exist for environmental advisors, who may travel to rural communities to deliver information on water wells, oil tanks or septic systems. Advisors must have a valid drivers license and knowledge of a specialist subject, such as energy, climate change or waste management. Positions may be part-time and pay around
$12 an hour, plus a mileage allowance.
