Baker

The job description of a baker varies significantly, depending on where the job is and what qualifications the applicant possesses. A position in a small bakery may require the skills to be able to bake a range of products and even do non-baking related jobs, such as ordering supplies, interacting with customers and maybe even selling. A baker at a small bakery would need to be flexible and willing to do ‘odd jobs’.
If non-baking related work is of no interest, then working in a large bakery, an industrial bakery or a hotel bakery might be a better option. Here, bakers can concentrate on their expertise and depending on the setting, try new recipes or experiment with new ingredients.
Job holders must be able work under pressure and to tight schedules. Small bakeries may require long working hours compared to corporate bakeries, which tend to be run on shifts.
The starting salary for a baker in Canada is about C
$1,500 a month, but can be more depending on experience and qualifications. Higher salaries can be had either at exclusive or high-end bakeries or hotels.
