Attorney

An attorney, or lawyer, depending on what area they decide to specialise in can be involved in a range of legal work. Some examples include corporate law, which requires the lawyer to work closely with clients and their various business activities on projects such as government relations, contracts and relationships with other companies
A private lawyer will work with individuals in the areas of criminal and civil law. This type of attorney will deal with litigation and law suits as well as contracts, mortgages, leases and trusts. A trial lawyer will spend much of their time preparing cases and presenting them in court
Insurance lawyers tend to spend their time reviewing claims, working on the wording of policies and advising insurance firms on the legality of transactions. Joining the profession requires rigorous education. However, the opportunities are good and there is the potential to enter jobs outside of the legal arena such as in banks, government agencies and businesses
A corporate lawyer can expect to earn around £60,000 per year.
