Adult Education
Adult educators play a role in helping adults better themselves once they have left formal education. Persons who chose this career path can teach vocational subjects as well as academic ones. It is common for someone in this role to work in the evenings, when part-time students are free, holding classes in high schools or community colleges that let adult education programs use their facilities.
To become an adult educator, some knowledge of the subject taught is needed whether it is in the form of a degree or a specific skill. Usually adult education programs advertise positions, and expect successful applicants to teach an existing course or to create a new one.
The duties include planning and teaching a course of lessons to a group of adults. The size of the classes can vary depending on the popularity of the course. The job holder has to be patient and approachable, as many students will not have been students since high school.
The salary for this job is C
$15.50 per hour on average.
