Accounting

Accounting is an essential part of the interworking of businesses, public sector organisations and individual finances alike. Thus, the need for people who are trained in the complex process of compiling, assessing, reporting and managing the finances of such entities will always be in demand.
Those working in this field have a wealth of opportunities available in numerous positions including clerks, technicians, supervisors, analysts, managers and more. Moreover, the need for these skilled individuals spans all industries and self-employment is not uncommon.
The majority of people working in accounting departments across Canada are Certified General Accountants or Chartered Accountants and are certified by the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants, the Society of Management Accountants of Canada or the Certified Management Accountants. These certifying bodies and most employers require applicants to have a university degree in the subject or a related field like finance.
Salaries for chartered accountants in Canada begin at about C
$40,000 per year and those in upper-levels can earn in excess of C
$100,000, plus commission and bonuses.

  • I need help with my studies/skills Loic

Hello, I finished my accounting career but I can’t seem to get a job. I don’t know what’s wrong in my cv. Does anyone know if there’s any recognized credential that will open the door for me? I don’t even get in the interview stage… so I know it’s not my fault, it’s something about my cv.. Please help.

    • Julia:

Hi, CPA has an advanced certificate in Accounting and Finance called ACAF. You should check that out. It helped me a lot because it’s something you can do no matter if you are already working or new collage graduate.

      • Loic:

But how can that help me exactly , what the ACAF did for you? Was it easier to get interviewed for a job? The companies take you seriously because of that?

        • Julia:

Yes, I mean it provide me the accounting and finance skills necessary to enhance my cv, career and mentality. Basically you learn skills that companies value but if you want o go higher you can check the CPA professional education program. Research information so you see which suits you best.

          • Loic:

Many thanks I'll look it up! Hope this helps me find a job..
