Web designers create an Internet website's overall look, but much of their work occurs long before most visitors can access the site. Web designers must take their clients' ideas into consideration while deciding the colours, photographs, graphics, and multimedia forming their artistic vision.
All of a website's text, images, and multimedia must then be converted into hypertext markup language, or HTML, to be seen in a viewable form. Designers must also know all of the HTML extensions enabling them to include interactive surveys, animations, and other special features to their websites.
Javascript is another important language in this career as it helps to create pages any browser software can view, but successful communication with clients and the ability to work under tight and constantly changing deadlines are equally important skills in this profession.
Demand for web designers is growing nearly as fast as the World Wide Web itself, and education levels range from students who do this work part time at between C

$50 per hour to four-year university graduates. A full-time entry level web designer position can make nearly C
$60,000 per year, while a design director can command an annual salary of up to C
$80,000.
