Travel Consultant

The position of travel consultant often involves working on contracts with large companies whose employees make frequent trips to subsidiaries abroad, as well as working with upscale travel agencies whose offerings are geared to specific niche travel such as safaris, round-the-world trips or exclusive cruises.
The consultant will take care of all the client’s requests, from flights and accommodation to arranging chauffeur-driven cars or car rental, presenting an individually-designed package suiting the client’s itinerary and special needs.
A travel consultant will also be expected to research new destinations and recent developments in the industry, reporting them to senior-level managers. The job requires excellent standards of customer care, attention to detail, willingness to travel and to work long hours, and computer skills, with a relevant degree in a business or tourism-related field a necessity.
Salaries start at around C
$25,000 and can rise to over C
$50,000, including bonuses and commission.
