Social services are a growing part of the Canadian public sector. As such, the number of social care positions that are advertised is increasing each year. These positions are located across the country, in facilities such as care homes, hospitals, schools and government departments.
Many of those with qualities such as empathy and patience are employed as care assistants in care homes catering to the elderly. On the other hand, those who love children can find positions in children’s homes, or even working for fostering and adoption agencies.
Social care work is a key role in the sector with a number of available positions. These positions entail working with young offenders, school truants and those with learning difficulties, among others. The social worker’s brief is to enable the client to help themselves, by working together on an action plan and seeing it come to fruition.
