Security Guard
Being a security guard requires someone who can follow security procedures and operate security equipment. They often have to deal with emergency and conflict situations, so excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to be decisive and respond effectively are essential. An understanding of health and safety systems is important as well the ability to monitor and evaluate these systems.
The ability to write reports and good verbal and written communications skills is also sometimes required for this position. A good standard of computer literacy is sometimes needed. Security guards need to be able to work alone using initiative, as well work well as part of a team. These people are also required to be physically fit, as the job involves a lot of physical activity.
Although applicants are required to have obtained good grades in high school, there are no specific qualifications required, as in house training is usually provided. The average salary for this position is C
$20,000.
