Sales Representative
A sales representative has many duties, which largely depend on the sales field a candidate is applying for. Nevertheless, one of the most important responsibilities for a person in this position is to sell products within a specified geographical location, while maintaining and developing clientele relationships. A sales representative does not necessarily work in the same environment each day, with many going door-to-door.
A willingness to work away from home for extended periods of time is an important requirement for many sales representatives. In addition, some of the skills involved include excellent interpersonal skills, personal time-management attributes, self-motivation, organizational skills, and an ability to report data and figures to managers before strict deadlines.
Because sales representatives can work on commission, many entry-level workers have a low base salary of about C
$20,000 - C
$25,000. With commission, people in this position can earn upwards of C
$60,000 per year. Most workers hold a Bachelors degree or higher in sales, marketing, or some other related industry. Experience is extremely important for this job, however.
