Safety Manager

A safety manager will have outstanding communication skills in order to ensure that all employees in a company understand the systems in place which guarantee they go about their tasks with a minimum risk of harm t themselves or others. A manager must have organisational skills and the ability to create safety programmes, tailor-made for the manufacturing environment they are working in.
Education requirements include a Bachelors degree in industrial engineering, safety engineering or a field related to these subjects. Employers are also likely to prefer candidates who can show they have experience in safety and/or environmental health. A good knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation is also important.
Safety managers will be required to eliminate dangers in the workplace and identify hazards. They will work closely with the heads of departments to make sure that all workers are aware of the safety requirements and safety obligations. A manager will assess statistics and come up with ways of reducing accidents, implementing safety procedures and making sure productivity increases as result. Wages range between C
$50,000 and C
$100,000, depending on experience.
