Rn
A Rn (registered nurse) has the responsibility of preventing illness and promoting the benefits of good health. They are also charged with treating patients with a range of medical conditions and should provide good communication, support and advice.
Registered nurses work under the supervision of physicians and will often administer medication and be responsible for keeping patient records in order. They can often be in charge of supervising other medical staff, including licensed practical nurses, aides and orderlies.
There are plenty of opportunities for Rns to specialize, and some may choose to take further training and move up the nursing ladder. A high school diploma is required as well as additional training to become a Rn. There is also the requirement for those wishing to become a registered nurse to pass a written licensing exam.
It is important that those considering a nursing care are in good health and have a calm temperament as most days will involve a great deal of contact with patients. Salaries vary depending on where in Canada the job is but average around C
$60,000 per year.
