Recruitment Consultant
Recruitment consultants must be passionate about working with people. They must be confident and articulate communicators, capable of interacting with a wide range of clients. It is also important that they take a pleasure in fitting people into the right job, while at the same time serving the needs of the employer.
This varied work involves a number of different duties at every stage of the recruitment process, from writing job descriptions to pre-screening candidates. Those working as a recruitment consultant must therefore be proactive and independent workers with the ability to use their own initiative. An aptitude for sales is also important, as the work may involve cold-calling local employers in order to generate new business.
These people usually work for agencies, who may require a Bachelors degree or diploma in a business-related subject, as well as relevant experience in either a recruitment or sales environment. Salaries start at around C
$30,000 but, as the job is often performance-based, can be as high as C
$150,000 for experienced recruiters.
