A purchasing manager controls the budget for separate departments’ expenditure, and must work in direct contact with purchasing officers/employees.
Some of the most important skills for a purchasing manager include effective communication between colleagues and employees, excellent business management skills, data analysis skills, knowledge of economic practices and financial markets, and outstanding interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships.
Most job holders earn a minimum of C
$48,000 - C
$52,000 per year throughout Canada, although larger companies and greater experience usually sees these numbers increase. Bachelors degrees in either business management, marketing, sales, or retail management are usually essential qualifications for candidates; however, an advanced degree is preferred.
