Production

Production in the manufacturing industry is an important role, whether working on the production line or in a more senior position. It often requires a range of skills, including an in depth knowledge of the employing company, the ability to analyse data, and the stamina to deal with physical and sometimes monotonous tasks.
A good level of communication skills is essential for a role as a production manager, as this person will be in charge of decisions from the factory floor to more senior levels. A production manager, for example, is responsible for a team which could include line workers, senior executives and people who manage the phones.
Production managers will usually have a degree in management, technology or a related field. Salaries start at around C
$50,000, but will increase with experience. Production line workers received around C
$20,000, but formal qualifications are rarely required as on-the-job training usually comes as standard.
