Production Manager

In the mechanical engineering field, a production manager plays an important part in the maintenance and efficiency of plant equipment. Job holders have overall responsibility for the smooth running and timely repairs of machinery that keeps the wheels of industry turning.
Dependant on the nature of an employee’s business, individuals taking on a new role might have a number of different responsibilities; but the main task is to coordinate all work undertaken by technicians and to ensure that the finished product matches blueprints and that it is done at the optimum cost.
Applicants for production manager posts in Canada are preferred to have a Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering and a background in metal fabrication. Other necessary attributes are excellent communication and delegation skills, the ability to see the big picture, and familiarity with AutoCAD and Microsoft Windows software.
Remuneration packages offer base salaries of between C
$45,000 and C
$70,000 a year, with some employers providing benefits and annual bonuses. There are openings in most industrial areas of the country. Incumbents may have to work outside standard office hours in the event of shutdowns or scheduled machinery maintenance.
